Lipa Pharmaceuticals selected Vilair-AAF to supply a downflow sampling booth and an HVAC system for the Stage 2 development of the Minto, NSW Lipa plant. The facility is to be used for sampling and quality control of active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients used in manufacture of OTC and complementary products. Grater Construction Group built the facility, with Ultrapanel Systems engaged for the room panelling.
Vilair-AAF’s scope of works included facility layout and detailed design; documentation, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning and validation. A 3.8 m wide Australian-manufactured modular DCB laminar downflow booth 2 was installed to provide a controlled sampling environment and a dedicated HVAC system was installed to service the 3-room facility. Services incorporated in the 304 stainless steel booth fascia included a centralised vacuum system, a ventilated stainless steel work bench; and computer & printer cavities. AAF prefilters and HEPA filters were installed in the booth and the HVAC system to maintain the specified levels of air cleanliness as well as capture and containment of dusts from sampling procedures.
Performance criteria for the booth included containment of process dusts and maintenance of Grade C cleanroom conditions. An adjoining staging room required Grade D conditions. The installations were tested and certified in accordance with Australian standards and NATA requirements as part of the facility Performance Qualification protocol.
